Social bookmarking hurts more than it does good because 99% of all posters are spammers trying to promote their site or product. Many search engines punish sites abusing such services already.
The idea was great but it failed as much as web 2.0 lacks in search engine optimization (especially ajax based sites)
Social bookmarking might bring a few visitors, but the services get smarter and finally burry all abusers and users with multiple names who "vote" for their own sites.
