The Hospital Authority’s COVID-19 community treatment facility at AsiaWorld-Expo started operation today, providing 500 beds.
Coronavirus patients aged between 18 and 60 and in stable condition will stay at the facility.
Nurses and doctors deployed there will closely monitor patients and immediately send them to public hospitals if their condition takes a turn for the worse.
Tin Shui Wai Hospital Consultant (Accident & Emergency) Dr Larry Lee said there will be around 20 to 30 patients moving in for today and tomorrow.
“We will try to increase the capacity at a later stage and we will review that.
“The significance (of this facility) is that this is our first time to have (COVID-19) in-patient care services extended to the community and (it is) different from the community isolation facility in Lei Yue Mun. Actually, the scale, equipment and hardware there will be more like a hospital.”
