John Rose Joins LibLime as VP, Strategic Markets

LibLime, the leader in open-source solutions for libraries, announced today that industry veteran John Rose has joined LibLime as VP, Strategic Markets.

ATHENS, OH--February 20, 2008--LibLime, the leader in open-source solutions for libraries, announced today that industry veteran John Rose has joined LibLime as VP, Strategic Markets.

"We're delighted to add John's knowledgebase, talent and 15 years of experience in the library industry to our team," says Joshua Ferraro, CEO of LibLime. "John comes to us with an excellent reputation for building strong customer relationships and a focus on service over products -- traits that are essential when helping libraries transition from proprietary to open-source solutions."

John comes to LibLime from CQ Press, where he was National Sales Manager. Prior to CQ Press, John served as Director of Eastern Region Sales for Endeavor Information Systems and as Eastern Region Sales Manager for Dynix. He holds a bachelors in political science from the State University of New York at Albany. John will help develop and execute sales strategies at LibLime.

"Since I came to the library world in 1993, I have been privileged to have witnessed and participated in many exciting technological changes," says John. "But, nothing is as exciting as seeing the appearance of a real alternative to proprietary ILS systems in the open-source Koha ILS movement."

John believes that open source has much to offer the library industry: "Now that we have learned the lesson from the demise of vendor-centric systems in Horizon 8.0, Taos (and so many others) we can all benefit from software that cannot possibly be terminated. Koha is open-source code that can never be put back in the box."

"In fact, that's the point of open-source software," John adds. "It can't be killed through mergers, bad corporate decision-making or just plain negligence of libraries' requests for enhancements. Koha is free, supported, growing and increasingly powerful as 100% of the user-supported functional enhancements are added to every release."

John is excited to join LibLime, and looks forward to working with a customer-focused company. He says: "I am extremely impressed with the team at LibLime. They are an amazing departure from the legacy companies that have forgotten about their core constituency (librarians) and their core mission - to develop the most robust, technologically progressive ILS possible."

John points out that--in a market that has seen the darker side of venture capital companies--LibLime is privately owned and service-based. "Unlike venture capitol companies, the organizational character of LibLime is--by the very nature of the open-source movement--going to be focused on the needs of librarians and the library community."

About LibLime
As the leader in open-source solutions for libraries, LibLime offers a refreshing alternative to expensive proprietary software. Rather than sell software licenses for static, hard-to-customize software products, LibLime promotes the benefits of open source, enabling libraries to make choices about how best to provide their communities and staff with better technology services. LibLime enables libraries to use open-source software to its full potential by providing outstanding commercial support services - hosting, migration assistance, staff training, support, software maintenance, and development--solutions tailored to each customer's needs.

Use of open source not only lowers the per-library cost of running software, it also empowers libraries with a higher level of control over customization and the overall direction of software development.
