Department for Business appoints new Director General, finance
John Edwards is to become as Director General, Finance at the Department for Business on 1 July 2008.
He joins the department from British Nuclear Fuels Plc (BNFL) where he has served as Group Finance Director since July 2000.
Permanent Secretary, Sir Brian Bender, said: "I am very pleased to welcome John to the Department. He brings almost 30 years' experience gained in a number of respected and high-profile companies. John joins at an exciting time, as the department continues to work for business success in an increasingly competitive world."
John replaces Mark Clarke, who leaves the department in June.

1. John Edwards was the main Board Director responsible for Group Finance in four major British companies over 28 years, including: Jaguar, Northern Electric, Meyer and BNFL
2. He has worked closely over the last eight years with the Shareholder Executive developing and delivering BNFL's Strategic Plan. He has also played a leading role in the sales of Westinghouse, BNFL Inc, Reactor Sites and BNG Project Services
3. John is a Chartered Management Accountant and also holds an engineering degree
