Highways Agency helping you to 'great days out' at BBC summer festival Wednesday 11 June to Sunday 15 June
Visitors attending the BBC Summer Festival, at the NEC in Birmingham,
are being encouraged to plan their route, check traffic conditions in advance and to leave plenty of time for their journey, to ensure they make the most of a great day out.
With over 135,000 visitors expected at the event, which runs from 11 to 15 June and encompasses BBC Gardeners' World Live, the BBC Good Food show as well as BBC Countryfile and Good Homes magazines, motorways and major A roads around the area are likely to be very busy.
This year the Highways Agency is sponsoring BBC Countryfile magazine's 'UK Tourism and Great Days Out' area, in conjunction with presenter Ben Fogle's 'Great Outdoors' sessions - which will focus on great British days out.
Phil Treacher, Highways Agency National Traffic Control Centre Operations Manager, said:
"We are pleased to be sponsoring BBC Countryfile magazine's 'UK Tourism and Great Days Out' area this year. With so many great destinations to choose from, the UK has so much to offer all year round. To avoid delays and disappointment, ensure you check the travelling conditions and plan how to get there before you set off by using the Highways Agency's journey planning tools, such as the Traffic England website or by tuning into Traffic Radio on DAB digital radio or on the internet at http://www.trafficradio.org.uk. They can really help you to make the most out of your day out."
On the indoor stand, which is located in Hall 6 H205, staff will be giving away free mini road atlas, providing journey planning help and advice and demonstrating the latest journey planning services. Each day there is also the chance to win a picnic hamper at the Highways Agency stand by entering the free prize draw.
But it's not just about helping visitors get to a destination. As visitors start to think about leaving the BBC Summer Festival, Highways Agency staff will be on hand to provide help and advice from its new mobile exhibition unit just outside the main entrance to the Halls at location E499. Visitors will be able to check the current travelling conditions before they leave by listening to the Highways Agency Traffic Radio or by viewing the Highways Agency's motorway traffic monitoring cameras to decide if it's a good time to depart or perhaps stay a while longer and enjoy some more of the show.
