EPA Announces Final Water Transfers Rule


(ATLANTA – Jun. 9, 2008) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing a final rule to clarify whether Clean Water Act permits are required for transfers of water from one body of water to another. Because of recent court cases, the question of whether such permits are necessary for water transfers has been raised. EPA proposed a rule in 2006, and is announcing the final rule today.
