U.S. Postal Service Turns Over a Green Leaf
What:
Postmaster General John Potter launches a year-long campaign to increase awareness and create results for energy conservation at a “Turning Over a Green Leaf” event at Postal Service corporate headquarters. The Postal Service has a stated goal of reducing energy use 30 percent by 2015.

Building on its history of environmental innovation, the Postal Service is working to create a culture of conservation among its 646,000 employees in its 34,000 facilities and among its suppliers and partners in the mailing industry.
The Postal Service is recognized as an environmental innovator and leader, and has been honored with more than 70 major environmental awards, including the 2009 Climate Action Champion award and 39 White House Closing the Circle awards for environmental stewardship.

EcoVoyager, Chrysler’s new battery-powered, all-electric mini-van could be tested as early as this summer as a possible replacement for traditional fuel delivery vehicles. Media can ride in and film the vehicle.
A hydrogen fuel-cell truck by GM, a 1929 Model AA Ford delivery vehicle and an antique delivery bicycle will also be on site, as well as displays of photovoltaic equipment, green Post Office lobbies and energy tips.
