Peace and Harmony-The Divine Spectra of Manjusri Exhibition starts tomorrow
Hong Kong (HKSAR) - The Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Chinese World Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Hong Kong Buddhist Association will jointly present the Peace and Harmony-The Divine Spectra of Manjusri Exhibition as a celebratory event for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Featuring Manjusri and related artifacts, the exhibition will be held at the Hong Kong City Hall Low Block Exhibition Hall from tomorrow (October 11) to October 23. Admission tickets are distributed free.
Manjusri, possessing the strength to save mankind from miseries, is regarded as the apotheosis of transcendental wisdom. The exhibition is an extension of the "Peace and Harmony" series. The Manjusri theme aims to exemplify the Chinese nation's natural instinct to pursue peace and harmony.
It allows the public to appreciate the essence of such a pursuit and to achieve purification through the spiritual experience. Coming from the private collection of Dr Paul Kan, the 216 exclusive artifacts on displayinclude exquisite statues of Manjusri, Jambhalas, Thangka, ritual implements in the Esoteric Buddhism, such as Ga'u, Thokcha Wisdom Sword of Manjusri, Tsha-tsha and right-spiralling conch which evidenced the significance of the Silk Road in the development of Buddhistarts. Peace and Harmony-The Divine Spectra of Manjusri Exhibition runs from tomorrow to October 22 from 10am to 10pm; and on October 23 from 10am to 9pm at the Hong Kong City Hall Low Block Exhibition Hall.
Free admission tickets are being distributed at the following venues on a first-come-first-served basis: 1. Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong City Hall and Sha Tin Town Hall enquiry counters Time: 9am to 9pm daily 2. Chinese World Cultural Heritage Foundation (3/F, Kantone Centre, 1 Ning Foo Street, Chai Wan, Hong Kong) Time: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm Saturday, 9am to 1 pm (Closed on public holidays) 3.
The Hong Kong Buddhist Association (1/F, Lok Yau Building, 338 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong) Time: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm Saturday, 9am to 1 pm (Closed on public holidays) Each person may get a maximum of four tickets and each ticket admits only one person. Children of 11 or below with valid tickets must be accompanied by an adult. Each viewing session lasts one hour and members of the public should choose a viewing session upon collection of tickets.
