Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. received the Monozukuri Special Environment Award at the 19th Nikkei Global Environmental Technology Awards

Intended activity is the Integrated Recycling System that Fuji Xerox established in China, and it was recognized for "being the first in the industry to build a logistics network for recovering used products and cartridges spanning the whole of mainland China" "implementing the advanced reuse and recycle technologies and know-how created in Japan" and "having achieved a high recycling rate as well as adopting a pioneering approach to address the serious waste problem in China"

The Nikkei Global Environmental Technology Awards were established in 1991 to honor outstanding achievement contributing to global environmental conservation as well as sustainable development in the areas including investigation, research, countermeasure technology and others touching on global environmental issues. The Monozukuri Special Environment Award, which was presented to Fuji Xerox, was established this year to recognize substantial approaches to conserving the global environment at monozukuri (manufacturing) plants both inside and outside of Japan.

Fuji Xerox Eco-Manufacturing (Suzhou) Note 1 and Fuji Xerox China Ltd.Note 2 operate and promote the Integrated Recycling System in China under the support of the Chinese government, to achieve the goals of "zero landfill" "zero pollution" and "zero illegal dumping" by steadily improving the recycling rate together with 10 partner companies in China and four in Japan. Complying with domestic laws of China, the system recovers used products and cartridges nationwide as part of Fuji Xerox’s corporate responsibility, and disassembles and sort them followed by appropriate handling of hazardous materials.

For China, the Integrated Recycling System has yielded benefits of reducing illegal dumping, pollution from harmful substances and other environmental risks, as well as making efficient use of recycled resources in the country, which would eventually develop a new industrial system.

Prior to building the system in China, Fuji Xerox established the Integrated Recycling System with the aims of achieving "zero landfill" "zero pollution" and "zero illegal dumping" in Japan in 1995Note 3 and in the Asia-Pacific region in 2004Note 4. Fuji Xerox will further accelerate its resource recovery and recycling in China.
