Cardiac arrest following cannabis use: a case report

Cannabis, or Marijuana, remains one of the most universally used recreational drugs. Over the last four decades, its popularity has risen considerably as it became easily accessible and relatively affordable.

Peak use is amongst the young aged 18 to 25 years, although these figures are now shifting towards earlier teens. A strongly installed culture still regards cannabis a harmless drug, yet as more reports have shown there are considerable adverse cardiovascular events linked with its use.Case PresentationIn this paper, we present the case of a 15-year-old male who suffered a cardiac arrest following cannabis use and survived the episode.

Conclusion: Cardiac arrest is a rare and possibly fatal consequence of cannabis use.

Public awareness should be raised by extensively promoting all potential complications associated with its use.

no one has ever died from using marijuana, it has been used by millions of people, tons of people have died from the prohibition of marijuana tho, and thousands suffer everyday in unhealthy nasty jails because of the retarded laws right now. he probably had the heart attack from prescription medications, or legal drugs like alcohol or tabacco which have all be shown to cause heart problems.

I'm always amazed when I see a BS article like this , intended to promote the fear among the unread ,that Cannabis can KILL YOU.....
Usually the first two or three comments point out the lie,and totally reveal the article for the BS IT IS .

This reminds me of a study from a few years ago that tried to directly correlate heart disease with tooth plaque and poor oral condition in general. The fact of the matter is that people who don't care enough about themselves to brush their teeth also didn't care enough to maintain a healthy diet.
Marijuana? Cardiac arrest? Are you serious? More likely he saw a police cruiser when he was puffing and it nearly scared the poor kid to death. Seriously though, if ANY teenager is experiencing ANYTHING cardiac related, there is almost certianly a preexisting condition. Hopefully doctors will find the real problem before spending any time on this marijuana garbage. The kid will die of another heart attack LONG before everyone concludes, for the millionth time, that marijuana is not deadly (not really even dangerous).

Sorry this scare tactic won't work. Did they test the boy for any cardiac abnormalities? Cannabis use can highlight a pre-existing physical or mental condition. No mention is made of this, we are expected to believe he was in perfect health just cause he's 15. He could be overweight by a huge amount or have a pre-existing condition.
Was he doing any other drugs? They can have a significant affect on the heart.
Quit blaming cannabis if you can't prove cause and effect, and no one has ever proven a death due to cannabis alone.
