Man jailed for assault on FEHD officer

Hong Kong (HKSAR) - A man who assaulted a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) officer in execution of his duties was today (November 20) sentenced in Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts to seven days' imprisonment. The FEHD officer was attacked when he asked the defendant to remove goods that obstructed the street in Wan Fung Street, Wong Tai Sin, on October 20. The defendant today admitted the charge of common assault.

"Use of force against public officers is not only wrong, but also carries legal consequences," an FEHD spokesman said. "People should co-operate with law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties," he said.
