Speech by CS at HK Institute of Education 15th Anniversary Gala Dinner

Hong Kong (HKSAR) - Following is the speech by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, at Hong Kong Institute of Education's 15th Anniversary Gala Dinner at Sheraton Hong Kong today (November 20): Now I would like to say a few words in English. I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to the Hong Kong Institute of Education on your 15th anniversary.I am glad to join you on this happy occasion for your celebration. Hong Kong has been and will continue to move towards a knowledge-based economy.

¡@Such transformation is impossible without a highly educated workforce.So our teachers have an important role to play in preparing our younger generations to face the challenges ahead.The Government will provide strong support to our teachers and our would-be teachers, and we look forward to working closely with the Institute and everyone of you to keep raising the quality of education in Hong Kong. I commend the contribution of the Institute to our social and economic development over many years.I wish the Institute every success in the future. Thank you.
