Wounding case in Tin Shui Wai reclassified as murder


Hong Kong (HKSAR) - Police tonight (February 7) reclassified a wounding case in Tin Shui Wai last night (February 6) as murder.

About 7.46pm yesterday, Police received a report that a 68-year-old man was assaulted by a 54-year-old man at a podium in Tin Yan Shopping Centre and a 71-year-old man approached to stop them. The duo aged 54 and 71 assaulted each other afterwards and was respectively arrested for wounding and fighting in a public place.

The three men were subsequently sent to Tuen Mun Hospital. Sustaining forehead, knee and back injuries, the 68-year-old man was in unconscious state and was certified dead at 9.46pm today.

The other two men were discharged upon medical treatment.

The 54-year-old man will be detained overnight for further investigation while the 71-year-old man was bailed pending further enquiries.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of the death.

Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Yuen Long Police District are underway.
