Police to showcase their work at Careers Expo


Hong Kong (HKSAR) - Under the theme "Professional Multifaceted Law Enforcement Agency and Caring Organisation", the Police will showcase the multi-faceted nature of their work at the four-day Education and Careers Expo starting tomorrow (February 9). Recruitment information will be also available at the Police booth.

There will also be a mini range where officers from the Weapons Training Division demonstrating the use of police equipment.

Officers from The Police Dog Unit, Marine Small Boat Division, Traffic Formation, Emergency Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, Airport Security Unit, Narcotics Bureau, Crime Prevention Bureau and Identification Bureau will brief visitors on their areas of work and introduce their equipment at different sessions.

Details of the demonstration sessions are as follows:

February 9 (Thursday):
10.30am to 2.30pm - Police Dog Unit
2.30pm to 7pm - Marine Small Boat Division

February 10 (Friday):
10am to 2.30pm - Traffic (Kowloon East)
2.30pm to 7pm - Emergency Unit (Kowloon East)

February 11 (Saturday):
10am to 2.30pm - Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau
2.30pm to 7pm - Airport Security Unit

February 12 (Sunday):
10am to 12.30pm - Narcotics Bureau
12.30pm to 3.30pm - Crime Prevention Bureau
3.30pm to 6pm - Identification Bureau

Officers from the Police Recruitment Division will process applications for police constable and probationary inspector on site. They will conduct initial screening and arrange for the written test.

The Auxiliary Police officers will also be present to handle recruitment-related enquiries and receive applications.

Members of the public are welcome to visit the Police booth at the Expo, which will be held in Hall 1C of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 10.30am to 7pm on February 9; 10am to 7pm on February 10 and 11; and from 10am to 6pm on February 12. Admission is free.

To tie in with this year's Careers Expo, the Police simultaneously launch an "Application Express" campaign. Those who wish to join the Force can apply at 13/F Arsenal House, Police Headquarters, 1 Arsenal Street, Wan Chai in person on or before February 17.

Applicants should bring along proof of their academic qualifications (original and duplicate).

For the financial year 2012-13, the Force's recruitment target is 1 070, comprising 180 PIs and 890 RPCs.
