Establishment of the Committee on Self-financing Post-secondary Education
Hong Kong (HKSAR) - The Government today (March 30) announced the establishment of the Committee on Self-financing Post-secondary Education.
The Committee will advise the Secretary for Education on the development of the self-financing post-secondary education sector. The membership of the Committee is set outbelow:

The above appointments are for a period of two years from April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2014.
The Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen, said, "Mr Lui is a prominent community leader who has a wealth of experience in public service including the higher education sector. He has rendered valuable insight and sterling support for the higher education sector by having served as Member of the University Grants Committee and governing councils of higher education institutions.
I am confident that under his capable leadership, the Committee will serve as an excellent platform for discussing macro and strategic issues of common interest to the self-financing post-secondary sector, as well as promoting quality and good practices."
The University Grants Committee conducted a higher education review in 2010 and submitted a report titled "Aspirations for the Higher Education System in Hong Kong".The Government has endorsed the overall strategies and directions recommended in the report and agreed, among other things, to set up an advisory body to oversee the development of the fast-developing self-financing post-secondary education sector in Hong Kong. The Government also set up the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund with an injection of $2.5 billion to provide scholarships and financial support for quality enhancement and quality assurance.
