Arrest Made in Edmond Bank Robbery


OKLAHOMA CITY—James E Finch, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI, Oklahoma City Division, announces the arrest of Brian Lindell Hardrick, 35 years of age, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for the robbery of the IBC Bank on July 31, 2012. On August 2, 2012 at approximately 6:30 AM, FBI agents arrested Hardrick at his residence in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, without incident. According to an arrest affidavit filed in United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, the IBC Bank at 421 S Santa Fe in Edmond was robbed by a lone black male holding a knife on July 31, 2012. Bank employees described the robber as a black male, approximately 6’1” in height, wearing a gray stocking cap, light gray or white zip-up hooded jacket, dark blue pants, white bandana covering his face, white tennis shoes, and light-colored gloves.

A witness observed an individual generally matching the robber’s description walk into a strip business center located just south of the bank. Another witness observed an unfamiliar, cream-colored Cadillac 4-door sedan parked in a neighborhood just south of the bank at approximately 7:15 AM, and the vehicle was gone at approximately 7:30 AM A search warrant was executed at Hardrick’s residence on August 2, 2012. Several items of evidence were seized, including three bank bags containing loose coins; white tennis shoes; a black-handle, sharp-pointed kitchen knife; some money; and a white bandana. Hardrick was interviewed by law enforcement after being advised of his Miranda rights, and he confessed to robbing the IBC Bank.

This robbery was investigated by the FBI and the Edmond Police Department. The public is reminded this arrest is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
