Non-profit-making organisations invited to apply for funding to run support service centres for ethnic minorities

Hong Kong (HKSAR) - To further strengthen support for ethnic minorities, the Home Affairs Department (HAD) is inviting eligible and interested non-profit-making organisations to apply for funding to establish and operate support service centres for ethnic minorities in the following groupings:

(a) Yau Tsim Mong Centre and Sham Shui Po Sub-centre; and
(b) Tung Chung Sub-centre.

The new centre and sub-centres are required to organise language training to enhance ethnic minorities' proficiency in both Chinese and English and provide various types of support services including counselling and referral services and a series of integration activities to facilitate their early integration into the community.

Details of the project, application criteria and the briefing session are set out in the Project Brief, which is available on the HAD website (www.had.gov.hk).

The deadline for application is September 14, 2012.
