Hong Kong (HKSAR) - The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, today (September 25) expressed his sadness at the passing of Mr Anthony Lawrence, a veteran journalist who had served selflessly for Hong Kong for decades.
"Mr Lawrence will be remembered not just as a renowned foreign correspondent with the British Broadcasting Corporation, but also for his decades of selfless service to Hong Kong," the Chief Executive said.
"During almost four decades of volunteer work for the International Social Service Hong Kong Branch, including 15 years as Chairman of its Advisory Committee, Mr Lawrence helped to introduce pioneering new services to help people in need, most notably refugees from Vietnam and new arrivals from the Mainland of China. On behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, I would like to express our condolences to Mr Lawrence's family," Mr Leung added.
Mr Lawrence was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2012.
