COO Joseph Mulcahy Announces A Broader Direction For Broadcast Video Conferencing Camera Manufacturer PTZOptics

PTZOptics is a US-Based video conferencing camera manufacturer operating out of Downingtown, Pennsylvania founded in October of 2014. Mulcahy announces “PTZOptics will now focus on two main applications: live streaming/broadcasting and online video conferencing”. These two applications encompass most vertical markets including: Broadcast, Corporate, Education, Healthcare and House of Worship.

Mulcahy explains that the PTZOptics engineering team has been pushing the bar forward with various technology implementations for PTZ camera control protocols to serve these markets, “UVC camera control has been a main focus for our engineering team to support relative and absolute UVC camera control.

This technology will be important for the online video conferencing market, giving web conferencing software developers the ability control our cameras through a single USB connection that already carries the video.” For the live broadcast market Mulcahy explains that other technology protocols such as VISCA over IP and a complete SDK tool kit are either ready or are nearing completion, “The live streaming and broadcast markets prefer camera control over an IP connection when they are working with network streaming technologies like RTSP and RTMP. We currently support VISCA over IP and we are developing an SDK toolkit for developers in the Windows environment”.

PTZOptics fresh and forward thinking approach to both markets has been received well. Leading telemedicine company, VSee, has already implemented UVC control for the PTZOptics camera line to be used by doctors in healthcare facilities around the world [1]. Zoom.US, a popular web conferencing provider, is also using the same technology for camera control.

Rocosoft, a custom camera control software company, has implemented VISCA over IP for the PTZOptics camera line and created something truly innovative. Rocosoft is calling this new technology the “PresetVisualizer” and it allows users from any industry to layout camera presets visually and call presets with the click of button. [2] This technology is available through all of PTZOptics supported control protocols including: IP, VISCA and UVC.

PTZOptics has also released it’s own open source camera control software for developers from any walk of life. [3] The open source control software fosters a community for developers to continually add and create new versions of the software.

A version of the open source control software has been release for the android operating system available on the Google Play store. [4] For more information about PTZOptics visit their website at
