New Website Enables Consumers To Discover A New Magical World of Aromas And Caribbean Spices

Just three days after graduating from Bayou Chicot High School, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, Libby Vidrine packed her bags and left home in search of new adventures in the Eastern Caribbean Islands. Besides traveling to many other countries in Asia, Europe and the South Pacific, Libby spent the next four years in the Eastern Caribbean, exploring the islands, discovering cultures and culinary practices, while employed at local restaurants, and spent her time off traveling around the different islands of the Eastern Caribbean, addicted to experiencing the diversity of the many island’s culture and cuisine.

Being a native of Louisiana, Libby already had seasoning in her blood—blending ingredients for sweet, pungent, tart, hot, or savory flavors at home—and it did not take her long to discover the magic of local ingredients including herbs and spices.

After four years in the Eastern Caribbean she decided to go west to the Caribbean Nation of Belize. Selling her first spice blend in an open bag on the beaches of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye to a tourist, who then sent four more people to buy from me that same day, she recalls. Delighted with the epiphany, Libby launched her first restaurant in 2000 featuring the spice blend, Caribbean Creole Seasoned Sea Salt, and has never looked back. In the following 5 years, Libby became the proud owner of three restaurants on the island of Ambergris Caye, Belize featuring her unique local spice blends.

In 2008, Libby decided to become a mother, she sold her restaurants and relocated to the jungles of Belize with her three-month-old son for a simpler, cleaner life away from the hustle and bustle of the island of San Pedro. Aft home, she began supplying seasoning and sauces to wholesale customers.

In response to the continued demand, from the first batch of only ten products, Libby has since grown the Caribbean Spice Belize brand to over a hundred products. She offers many different lines such as, Gourmet Mustards, Dipping & Cooking Sauces, Pure Fruit Butters, Sea Salt Blends, Tropical Marinades, Raw Infused Honeys, Spice Pastes, Caribbean Hot Sauces, Pure Spice Extracts, Exotic Cooking Oils and various other items in her miscellaneous section.

“Though many ingredients such as oregano, basil, allspice, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, black pepper, vanilla and nutmeg are available in other parts of the world, the climate and nutrients in the soil here give Caribbean herbs and spices their unique characteristics, and our sea salt is just exquisite.” Libby says.

In the foothills of Belize’s Mountain Pine Ridge, our natural ingredients are raised here in Belize, with a few spices imported from neighboring Guatemala. Our products include an exotic array of wild, local and traditional spices. Over 90% of all our ingredients are nurtured by the rich tropical soil of the Belizean Rainforest. The coconuts, vegetables, spices, peppers, and herbs are dried by the Caribbean sun and harvested by local farmers up the road.
