SFH on heart transplantation

Hong Kong (HKSAR) -      Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function today (January 8):

Reporter: (about the waiting time for heart transplantation)

Secretary for Food and Health: What you are talking about and what we are all very concerned about is the fact that now there are at least three persons, some are relatively young, in Queen Mary Hospital suffering from acute cardiac disease. They are now, supported by intracardiac pumps, waiting for heart donation so that they can receive transplantation. They cannot wait for a very long time because the longer you put them on an artificial pump, the higher the chance of developing serious complications.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
