S for S to visit Yunnan and Beijing

Hong Kong (HKSAR) -      The Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, will depart tomorrow (May 17) to visit Yunnan and Beijing.

     Mr Lai will arrive in Kunming tomorrow afternoon and meet with officials from the Yunnan Border Defence Bureau and the Yunnan Public Security Bureau. They will exchange views on combating the smuggling of non-ethnic Chinese illegal immigrants and other matters of mutual concern. He will stay in Yunnan for four days, during which he will visit several border control points in the province.

     Mr Lai will then proceed to Beijing on May 21 and meet with officials of the Ministry of Public Security including the Director-General of the Narcotics Control Department and the Director General of the Border Control Bureau.
     He will return to Hong Kong in the evening on May 23.
