SED on Hing Tak School

Hong Kong (HKSAR) -      Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, at a media session after officiating at the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority 40th anniversary luncheon forum today (August 8):
Reporter: Can you recap the investigation process that the Education Bureau has done to Hing Tak School? If they cannot provide any documentation that proves that there were actually these students studying at the school, will it be dismissed as a case of forgery or as fraud?
Secretary for Education: I think since February we have been receiving complaints from different sectors of the community, basically about the relationship between the school management and the teachers. Initially we started our mediation work between the management and the teachers. As time goes by, we gathered more information and we also have more information provided by other people.

We started to investigate more in other areas as well. So in the past six months or so, we have been working closely with different people. And we have been working hard to find out what are the reasons behind and whether there are any irregularities in the school management.

You can see that recently we have firstly appointed two school managers to the IMC (Incorporated Management Committee) and now we have appointed another four to the IMC. So we are actively trying to help the school rectify its problems and also to make sure that the school will operate properly.
