Carnivals and variety show among highlights of 20th anniversary celebration events
Hong Kong (HKSAR) - Three carnivals and a variety show will be held in the coming days as part of celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
Sik Sik Yuen Humanitarian Community CaringProject 2017 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR cum Mid-Autumn Festival with Elders Carnival will be held at Wong Tai Sin Plaza on September 16 (Saturday) from 3pm to 8pm.
The event aims to promote the messages of respecting and looking after the elderly as well as fostering a caring community. Programmes will include booth games, an award presentation ceremony of a lantern design competition, singing and dancing performances and an exhibition of selected lantern entries by senior citizens and students.

A celebration event entitled An EM-friendly Hong Kong and arranged for local residents of different races will be staged at the Ping Shek Estate Podium on September 17 (Sunday) from 2pm to 5pm.
Organised by Hong Kong Christian Service's Centre for Harmony and Enhancement of Ethnic Minority Residents, the carnival aims to reflect on issues related to ethnic minorities in the past 20 years and together build a friendly society for the ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.
Programmes will include multicultural game booths, a cultural snacks booth, henna painting and an exhibition of local ethnic minority residents' stories.

Another carnival to promote multiculturalism and racial harmony in the community is the Love Without Borders Multicultural Carnival to be held by the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council's TOUCH Centre, a Support Service Centre for Ethnic Minorities, at 1/F, Carpark 1, Yat Tung Estate, Tung Chung, on September 17 (Sunday) from 2pm to 5pm.
The event is open to the public for free.
Among the programmes are booth games, a henna workshop, a South Asian snacks booth and cultural performances.

Organised by the Sha Tin Arts Association, Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR - Sha Tin Arts Variety Show 2017 will be staged at the Sha Tin Park Amphitheatre on September 17 (Sunday) at 2pm.
Members of the public will be able to enjoy performances by Sha Tin arts groups. The attractions will include Cantonese opera, children and adult choirs, a dancing show and Chinese orchestra and Western classical music performances.

To share the joy of the 20th anniversary, the HKSAR Government is joining hands with different sectors to organise a wide variety of activities and events under the theme "Together • Progress • Opportunity".
Altogether, more than 900 events and activities are being staged by the Government and different sectors until the end of 2017.
