Update on cluster of Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter cases in North District Hospital


Hong Kong (HKSAR) - The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for North District Hospital (NDH) made the following update today (February 8) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of inpatients with Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) in a medical ward:
 
     The screening sample of another 87-year-old female patient of the ward was confirmed to have MDRA but without clinical symptoms of infection. She has already been discharged.
 
     NDH will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation on the ward. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
