SCMA visits Kwai Tsing District

Hong Kong (HKSAR) -       The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Patrick Nip, visited Kwai Tsing District today (March 2) and toured a community service centre and a secondary school. He also met with members of Kwai Tsing District Council (KTDC) to exchange views on district matters.

Mr Nip visited the Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service lntegrated Community Centre for Mental Wellness (Kwai Tsing District) and was introduced to the facilities and services of the centre. The centre offers one-stop integrated mental health services to people in need in the district, and renders support to ex-mentally ill persons and their family members.

It also provides pre-employment training, on-the-job support and training in community living skills for ex-mentally ill persons to enhance their self-confidence and help them reintegrate into the community.

In an exchange session with members of the centre, Mr Nip listened to members' sharing of their learning progress and needs. He expressed the hope that the centre will continue with its efforts in raising public awareness of holistic health and enhancing public education, with a view to building a caring and inclusive society.

Mr Nip then visited Cotton Spinners Association Secondary School and toured the school's facilities. He also met with teachers and students there to get a better grasp of their teaching and learning situation.

Mr Nip said he was glad to learn that the school has spared no effort in taking care of newly arrived students, and has tailor-made support programmes to facilitate their adaptation to living in Hong Kong.

Mr Nip also met with members of the KTDC and exchanged views with them on district and community issues.
