In-patient absconds from Castle Peak Hospital

Hong Kong (HKSAR) - The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson for Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following appeal today (April 12) regarding an incident of an in-patient who absconded from the hospital:

     A 28-year-old male in-patient was found missing by a ward staff at about 2.40pm yesterday (April 11). The security guards performed a full-scale search within the hospital compound immediately but were unable to locate the patient. CPH is very concerned about the incident and has reported to the police immediately. The patient's relatives were also informed. The hospital is fully co-operating with the police in the search.

The patient was earlier admitted to CPH. After treatment, the patient's condition improved and he is currently receiving psychiatric rehabilitation.
     The hospital reviewed CCTV footage and found that the patient concerned had absconded from the hospital. The patient was wearing a black overcoat, dark trousers and glasses, is around 1.74 metres tall, of medium build and has black hair.

The hospital appeals to the public to contact the Regional Missing Person Unit, New Territories North of Hong Kong Police Force at 6273 5787 or call CPH at 2456 7111 if they know the whereabouts of the patient.
     The incident has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office via the Advance Incident Reporting System. The hospital will closely communicate with the patient's relatives to provide necessary assistance.
