What We Offer to Our Fellows – A Unique Opportunity for Enterprising Minds
Atlantic Media currently seeks 5-10 exceptional or aspiring writers, editors and other online media talents to join our team in a focused effort to launch, research, write and edit new websites. Fellows will help conceive new web concepts, develop their structure, design and voice, and complete the daily operations of the publications, such as writing and editing, once launched. This is website creation from first to last.
Candidates should be current students or recent graduates of undergraduate or graduate programs. Fellowship will run from September 2008 through May 2009; all candidates are expected to commit to the entire duration. Fellows will be compensated $30,000-$40,000 (depending on experience) for the nine-month appointment. There is some prospect, but no certainty, that fellows may be offered full-time employment with Atlantic Media following the fellowship.
Who We Seek – Extreme Talent in Writing, Editing and Digital Media
All candidates must demonstrate:
- Force of Intellect – manifested in an exceptional academic record
- Spirit of Generosity – natural disposition towards service and selfless conduct
- Power of Creativity – intuitive enthusiasm in creating and implementing new ideas
Additionally, the ideal candidate will speak to at least one of the following:
- Exceptional writing voice
- Acute wit that may manifest itself in headlines, photo captions, original satire
- Knowledge of markets, the economy and global business
- Strong world view informed by classic liberal values
- Keen marketing intuition or online operations expertise
- Strong designer’s eye
- Strong technical and HCI skills
