(San Francisco, CA) Linden Lab is seeking Senior Front End Web Application Engineers to help us extend the Second Life platform to the web. From commerce systems to social networking applications, this role is responsible for the development of scalable, secure, and exquisitely functional presentation layer components. As an active participant in an iterative design process, this role collaborates with Information Architects, Designers, and Engineers on an equal basis to scope requirements, resolve design & development dependencies, and guide projects toward polished execution.

Qualifications:

* Solid and versatile expertise with standard web development technologies, including PHP, Python/Django, XML, Javascript (jQuery), CSS, MySQL

* Expert knowledge of web standards and cross-platform/browser issues

* Thorough knowledge of design patterns, usability principles and best practices

* Experience with Subversion or other version control systems

*Understanding of REST and web service-oriented architecture

* Excellent communication skills, with an ability to clearly articulate complex design problems and solutions

* Experience interacting directly with stakeholders at all levels

* The ability to determine proper project scope by balancing multiple considerations from UI to ROI

* Refined sense of visual & interaction design, demonstrated in portfolio
