Pivotal Labs is a software development shop that works with top-tier clients to build cutting-edge web and mobile apps. Process is one of the things that sets Pivotal apart; we use an Agile / XP methodology which means lots of iteration and lots of collaboration. We’re looking for someone who can deliver contemporary, beautiful, user-centered design in this sort of environment. We think that means someone who can work creatively, work quickly, and who has experience in interface, interaction, and visual design.

Interaction and Visual Design for Web and Mobile:
Rapidly prototype designs and interaction models.
Determine best practice UI solutions for delivering features to users.
Create wireframes and mockups based on specifications and product requirements.
Create original graphics, assets, logos, and icons.
Create style guides and prep for delivery to developers and clients.
Develop brand identities for start-up companies.
Work in a range of aesthetic styles as appropriate to product and brand.

Agile Work Environment:
Work in an iterative process, building out features quickly and developing design alongside product builds.
Work as a team member with clients, developers, and designers.
Use Pivotal Tracker as a project management tool.
Communicate with developers about best practices for implementation.
Manage multiple projects and prioritize work based on deadlines and input from Principals, clients, and developers.

In-House Design:
Create print and web collateral for Pivotal Labs marketing efforts.
Maintain the consistency of Pivotal Labs brand identity while generating new and creative content.
Develop best practices for design integration within an agile development environment.

Skills
Deep knowledge: Adobe CS4/5 - Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks, In Design; UX, UI, Graphic, and Visual Design

Bonus points: CSS, HTML, Flash, Ruby on Rails, Subversion/Git, JavaScript, typography, photography, video, or motion graphics.

Make clean, easy to understand websites. Be creative, fast, collaborative, and communicative. Have experience doing web, print, and/or mobile. Have experience working independently with clients. Work effectively under deadlines and manage multiple projects with evolving requirements. Be thoughtful about the role of design in relation to evolving technology. Be committed to lifelong design learning.

3+ years experience in related field.
Bachelors degree in design-related discipline preferred.
