Morningstar is looking for experienced web developers who are passionate about usability, interaction, accessibility, and technology. They should excel at working with multidisciplinary teams to develop great user experiences. Web developers should have a full skill-set of client-side technologies including HTML, CSS, Flash/ActionScript, and JavaScript to translate wire frames and Photoshop sketches into intuitive interactions and interfaces. The result will be rewarding experiences for our clients including individual investors, financial advisors, institutional research analysts, financial planners, and financial services enterprises. This position requires no travel and is based in our Chicago office

Web developers work with information architects, interaction designers, software developers, project managers, product managers, and business owners to develop the next generation of our web-based products and services. They also help evaluate and continuously improve our existing ones.

Responsibilities
+ translating wire frames and sketches into working prototypes to refine interface behaviors
+ building and maintaining front-end libraries and frameworks
+ collaborating with designers to implement pixel-perfect code
+ participating in user-centered research through client focus groups, interviews, usage analysis, and rapid prototyping
+ working with back-end developers to integrate front-end and back-end codes that ensure design integrity

Requirements
+ degree in computer sciences (or a related field), or equivalent experience
+ demonstrated strong front-end development skills especially concerning accessibility, extensibility, client-side computing, object-oriented design patterns, and object-oriented CSS
+ expert-level JavaScript programming and working knowledge of least one popular JavaScript framework
+ expert knowledge of HTML and a basic understanding of HTML5 and CSS3, as well as the impact these specification changes will have on development practices
+ curiosity, a thirst to keep learning new technologies and methods, and a desire to build great products
