Our current opportunity is on our Austin, TX-based Crimson team. 

 Position Info:

User Experience Designer

Crimson's growing User Experience Team seeks a well-rounded visual designer with a modern design style to help create compelling web-based applications through simple workflows, intuitive interactions, and beautiful design. A successful candidate will have a portfolio of visual designs, which demonstrate a clean design aesthetic that foster usability. They will be competent in rapidly defining concise user-centered solutions through an iterative design process.

Included Responsibilities:

·         Contribute to the visual design of useful and intuitive user interfaces in a team environment

·         Aide in the development of information architecture, taxonomies, visual standards, storyboards, interaction patterns, use cases, wireframes, mockups, and requirement specifications across multiple applications

·         Facilitate discussions about requirements and your solutions with various stakeholders

·         Self-start and steward your design through the software development process ensuring you champion the standards of the UX team in every design challenge.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

·         A online portfolio or ability to provide samples of previous work is a requirement for application

·         Minimum of 4 years work experience in a visual design role

·         Mastery of a design tool such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or Fireworks

Ideal Qualifications:

·         Four years work experience as a UX Designer for web applications

·         Command of common UI principles and best practices

·         Proven ability to document complex UI layout & interactions

·         Successfully manage several projects simultaneously

·         Demonstrated ability to analyze a complex application/spec and transform the design to make it simple and easy to use

·         Proficiency in a variety of Mac-based design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, and OmniGraffle

·         An online portfolio of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions

·         Past experience in healthcare software, healthcare industry, or business intelligence is a big plus

What This Role Is Not:

·         This is not a usability analyst role. While an expertise in common usability patterns & practices is a big part of this role -- it relies heavily on your ability to also design the layout and compelling visual treatments that come about from your analysis.

·         This role is not a programmer or developer role. Having the ability to hand-code XHTML, CSS, and JS is surely a big plus. It will help you understand the power and limitations of web technologies when working with our UX Developers. However, you will not be writing code in this role.

·         This is not solely a graphic designer role. Sure it will be a huge part of this position. But for each design challenge you will be expected to take ownership of the entire user experience: use-case, workflows, usability analysis, IA, interactions as well as the visual design.
