Ingenuity Marketing Group: Art Director

Founded in 1991, Ingenuity Marketing Group is a small, nine-person firm based in the charming, historic city of Saint Paul, Minnesota. We help CPAs, attorneys, financial professionals – anyone who sells what’s in their heads – look good. Engineers, technology professionals and insurance consultants like us, too. But don’t let our small size fool you – our ranks are filled only with the sharpest, most savvy professionals (who, at the moment, are all women) and we pack a punch.

Unfortunately, we’re about to lose one – our Art Director is moving on to pursue new adventures, and now we’re set to the task of filling big shoes. We are looking for a seasoned designer who would be right at home running (and building!) the art side of our business.

At Ingenuity, the Art Director is chiefly responsible for producing work that communicates our clients’ value in new and innovative ways – yet something that fits within their often conservative industries and personal natures. We call it “cutting-edge conservative.”

As a creative liaison for both our clients and our team, we expect you will have the following:

  • Proven aesthetic for design through expert use of color, typography and art
  • Acute attention to detail; exacting standards of consistency and design integrity
  • Proficiency in all aspects of print design and production (pre-press)
  • Proficiency in website UI design and web usability principles
  • Ability to speak the language of professional printers and various print technologies
  • Well-developed communication skills (both in person and by phone/email)
  • Ability to articulate and sell creative concepts to clients and team members alike
  • Ability to work on multiple, well-managed projects simultaneously
  • Talent for listening to what a client needs and then translating that into stellar design
  • Fluency in the Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign)
  • Fluency with HTML/CSS and Dreamweaver; able to build and maintain websites
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office (creating business templates that require embedded graphics and/or designed layouts transferred from Creative Suite applications)
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Degree in graphic design or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of varied work history (agency, corporate, print, freelance, etc.)

Bonus points if you have:

  • Background or experience in professional services marketing
  • Experience with SEO, social media and emerging web technologies
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role overseeing creative staff

About the position:

We offer a flexible work environment and a fun, empowering culture. Your on-site office will be home on Tuesdays from 9am to 3pm, but beyond that, you may work wherever you wish.
