So we need to hire an awesome full-time designer, like, pronto. Most important are our Web projects which involve not only graphic design (making it beautiful) but also interaction design (making it ajoy to use). Since we're an advertising agency, though, in practice we also do whatever kind of design work a client needs to communicate the brand: logo/identity, print, illustration, even video. Interested? 

About you
You're equal parts graphicand interaction designer, which means you know not only what makes a great poster but also what users look for in an effective interface. Sites like Swiss Miss, A List Apart, I Love Typography, core77, Under Consideration, NOTCOT, and Dribbble are among your regular visits. You have a gigantic crush on Jessica Hische and/or Olly Moss. In your free time, you make things. You have strong opinions, sweat the details, and for your birthday asked for a typeface from Hoefler & Frere-Jones. You're local to the Triangle region of North Carolina. 

Realistically you'll need to have a few years of professional experience or at least a really impressive and diverse school portfolio. (This matters because we've got some big projects in the pipeline and you'll hit the ground running.) I don't especially care where you went to school or what you studied; I just want to know that you're passionate, eager to learn and excited about doing great work.

Things you'll definitely be doing

• Designing full-color Web comps from UI wireframes 
• Designing print collateral like cards, envelopes, posters & magazines 
• Talking to clients directly about their project (we use Basecamp and, um, phones) 
• Working alongside the creative director, a project manager, a studio artist, and a Web developer (who may or may not all be the same person)
• Impressing your friends with the cool work you get to do 

Things you might be doing

• Writing your own markup (HTML/CSS) 
• Configuring ExpressionEngine 
• Taking photographs

The pay
These postings drive me bananas when they don't include a salary range, so here goes: more than $30k and less than $45k. Depends on your talents and experience, obviously. And while this is a full-time position, we don't yet offer benefits, unless you count working with us, which is pretty cool. But there are good options available.
