AKTA Web Studio is looking for a User Experience Designer / Developer to join our team of designers, strategists and architects to help with client-facing application design. AKTA works with a mix of start-ups to small and medium sized businesses on UX design projects (mostly web applications, but if a device has a piece of glass in front of it we may be tempted to design for it). We work within the space between product strategy and interaction development. There is potential for full-time, part-time, or temp-to-hire, depending on the candidate.

INTERFACE DESIGN + DEVELOPMENT

We love people who are passionate about design.  If you get off on amazing design patterns, elements, interactions, and then want to turn those amazing designs into clean, sweet code then we should chat!

• Candidates must have an eagerness to learn and apply a human centered approach to design and be comfortable going out into the world for inspiration. Successful candidates are also comfortable working through ambiguity and are eager to test and evolve design methodologies.

• Understanding the technical side is a must. Fluency and ninja-ness in Javascript is most desired.

• You must have a strong understanding of interaction models, design patterns, etc.

• Recognize the difference between good and great front-end mark up for a variety of devices. Understanding the various nuances of cross-platform design and development is key.

• Strong understanding and passion for mobile web is a big plus (the web is a series of tubes and we design for all its nooks and crannies).

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, such as information design, instructional design, UI design, computer science, or human-computer interaction (preferred, but not required)

• Experience building and rapidly iterating on interactive prototypes

• Knowledge of website design and development; ability to work across technical design mediums (working knowledge of CSS3/HTML5/JS is a must)

• Detail-oriented, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment with aggressive development schedules

• Sense of humor totally required!
