Shopzilla, Inc: UX Director
(Los Angeles, CA) Shopzilla is looking for a talented Interactive User Experience Director to work with its Product Management & Marketing groups on our principle consumer facing properties (Shopzilla.com, Bizrate.com and Beso.com). The ideal candidate will lead a design department, and work closely with the Editor-in-Chief, VP of Marketing and Product Managers across all platforms to help execute the creative strategy with the goal of conceiving and designing new interaction patterns on our websites, and improving on-site user experience and touchpoints. While we care about how our sites look, we have a team of talented designers tackling some of those issues: This person would weigh in on that, but primarily be fixated on how the sites work and function, and how better to enable users to navigate through the experiences.
What kind of interactive designer are you?
You are a UX professional that loves to innovate on a large scale. You are excited to introduce new user interaction strategies, while striving for simplicity and design elegance. You love products that don’t force you to think too hard, and you love creating the “a-ha” moment. You are obsessed with human psychology and the patterns of human behavior, and want to create products that cater to intuitive actions—both those in place now, and those to come. You can tell us what we’ll want, and how we’ll want to use it, before it exists. You are perfect for the position because you get just as amped designing site functionality, features and landing pages as you do creating the next email campaign that will drive trial and adoption. You believe a widget can be just as impactful to your brand as a home page layout.

- 2+ years experience designing analytic tools

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to keep abreast of innovative design trends and their capabilities.
- Need to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, agile environment that focuses on the user experience above the bottom line.
- Ability to communicate ideas to stakeholders, and get buy-in from all teams, including product managers and engineers.
- Candidate should have a strong portfolio of work that showcases their broad range of interactive and graphic design skills.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design or related field or equivalent experience required, Master's preferred.
