| Product Description |
| Hear the phone number of who's calling before answering the phone with the Talking Caller ID. This handy Caller ID unit audibly announces the caller's phone number. It lets you decide if you want to talk to the person calling, without having to get up from what you are doing. It will speak the caller's pre-recorded name or 10-digit telephone number and also display it on the LCD screen. And if you are on the phone it will also annouce your call waiting calls. You can even custom record the names of up to 50 people you know, and it will announce them in your voice when they call. This device is great for people who are busy and do not want to be disturbed by telemarketers. It will announce "number blocked" or "number unknown" for unrecognized callers. Now you won't have to drop everything and run to the phone for someone you don't want to talk to. You can even leave custom outgoing messages for specific callers.
"The Talking Caller ID has many useful features. It stores the last 99 calls and allows you to review them audibly or visibly. If you subscribe to a call answering service, the LED on this device will flash whenever there are new messages. Other features include caller time and date stamp, adjustable volume controls, and bilingual display (English and Spanish)." |
| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: 4.0/5 | | useful voice caller id and individual message response: Rating: 5/5 |
This is a necessary supplement to being on the do not call list, which doesn't block charities or political organizations, which are just telemarketers in my mind. I did have Cox phone call blocking for $2/month for a while. It did block up to 30 phone numbers completely (you never hear them ring) but it worked very poorly and was a real pain to use unless you were blocking the very last caller.
The ClassCo only says the phone number for each caller until you provide a name in your own voice. It does identify "blocked"(private) and "unknown"(anonymous) by name, which have no phone number display, which are always telemarketer calls. Unfortunately, you can't override the name or set an automatic response message for blocked and unknown calls. All other calls can be given a name and your own automatic response message at the same time. It does answer before my answering machine kicks in with my general greeting. I keep a piece of paper with the four step process handy by the phone. It's a bit of an inconvenience, but well worth it in the long run. Many junk callers will call in on four or more different numbers, which you can block by reusing the same name and message you recorded the first time. The message isn't the same as a block because it still rings four times on my phone and you won't hear your own message unless you pick up the phone. The sound quality on the unit is poor. I put a strong inflection in my recorded name so I can identify the caller even from another room, but I do have to listen carefully once I've heard that first ring to warn me. The caller id works well, so you can attach the device to an old fashioned phone with high voice quality.
I haven't had any problems with the device itself in seven months, so it does seem to be better quality than some reviewers have indicated. I'll report back with an update if I do have any problems but I'd probably have to get another unit because I don't think I can live without the voice caller id now. |

| The original VoiceAnnounce Caller ID I purchased several years ago from Bell South (now AT&T) was fried during a recent violent storm. Since I had been beyond pleased with this product, I thought that the most direct route to replacing it would be to buy one from AT&T. Wrong. After enduring the gently maddening voice of the humanoid offering various numbers to push and for far too many options, I at last reached a live human being. I told her of my desire to purchase a new ID. She responded that the item was no longer sold by them and that the only way I could get a new one was to have opted for equipment replacement coverage when the original unit was purchased. I lacked such coverage. Dead end? Wrong, again. As millions do ever day, I did a Google search for the ID, found lots and lots of companies with ample supplies of the product, opted to buy on Amazon, and I now have my talking caller ID again. As an added bonus, even with shipping, it cost me less than the original unit. In sum, I am a happy customer. |
| | Fun and practical: Rating: 4/5 |
| 9900CW talking caller id. Sound quality on recorded name annoucements could be better. You do have to be quick to record name message like many of the reviews state. Just keep it short like "John your husband" or "mary at work" etc. Don't like a low static hum noise when flipping through your caller ids. But all in all its fun, its loud, and its practical for just sitting on the couch and hearing the number or name you created. I may buy another for the back bedroom in large house. |

| Have only had this for months and one day it was just dead. Tried to make it work again but nothing worked. I liked it so much though I am going to try buying one again! |

| it has 100 memory but who knows 100 people or company's,plus i got Caller ID service and it only logs the last time the person called not everytime like i needed, and my other caller ID units show who's calling by name, and this one doesn't unless you personally enter a name to every phone number you got,my three kids live out of town a nd all work or go to college over 30 miles away and since i'm 52.they always call i'm leaving for work,i am at work, going to lunch at so and so,i got off work going to wal-mart,going home already,i'm home already, they let me know everywhere they go and when they get there, well day my oldest son was at work at a fast food restuarant and went to wal-mart,and the city pigs accused him of doing something he didn't do well the wal-mart reciept came in handy, and the call history of him a wal-mart at a certain time proved the city pigs are liar, and with that they dropped there lie's,and my son was free, but between my 5 kids they avg. 50 calls within 3 days, and i was hoping this 100 unit would give me 100 calls history for a max of 6 days caller ID history as proof, incase city liars want to trump up false charges again,by the way my son is a minister too,but works on the side. |
