Anise bread

Anise Bread

This is an excellent tea bread.

2 eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon aniseed
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder

Beat together eggs and sugar. Add flour, baking powder and aniseed. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 minutes in greased and floured loaf pan. If desired, place slices of bread on buttered cookie sheet and heat a few minutes on each side just before serving.

Wrong. I've been making this bread for years. Wonderful tea bread. Its one of my husbands favorite. Great for low fat/low sodium diets! Its not a typical cake. No oil needed. Very Dutch. Try it again in a small loaf pan. When removed it has a wonderful crusty top. I'm making a double batch. One for now and one to freeze (if it lasts that long.

Tried this but there is no liquid or oil in recipe. Wasn't going to work.
